Our Mission
A Community Built Around People, Not Profits
Founded in 1982, Jewish Community Housing Corporation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate senior living for older adults across Morris and Essex Counties in New Jersey. JCHC believes that every senior deserves a place to belong, regardless of faith, background, or financial means.
Today, JCHC operates four exceptional communities—Lester Senior Living in Whippany, Village Apartments in South Orange, Jewish Federation Plaza in West Orange, and B’nai B’rith Federation House in South Orange—providing a full continuum of care from independent to assisted living, memory care, respite stay, and affordable HUD-subsidized housing.
As a non-profit, JCHC reinvests everything back into our communities, our mission, and the residents we serve. We measure success not in financial returns, but in meaningful moments, lasting connections, and lives genuinely well-lived. We believe that how we treat our most vulnerable says everything about the quality of our character—and we hold ourselves to the highest possible standard.
Our History
A Legacy of Caring
JCHC was founded to serve the diverse lifestyle preferences and needs of older adults in the Greater Metro West region of New Jersey. Beyond simply offering senior housing, we have consistently focused on forming communities that not only meet physical needs but also nurture emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Today, we proudly own and manage over 470 apartments across four senior living communities located in Morris and Essex counties.
