How big are the apartments?
Our efficiency apartments are 415 square feet and 1 bedrooms are 540 square feet.
Are there “buy-in” or application fees?
No.
Is there an additional rental fee for a second person in an apartment?
No. The rent is based on 30% of adjusted income.
What are the income limits?
The income limit for one person is $31,400.
The income limit for a couple is $35,900.
How long are the leases on the apartments?
The lease is for 12 months, renewable annually.
What are the age and health requirements for admission?
All tenants must be 62 or older; or have a disability that requires the physical attributes of a handicap apartment.
Are the apartments furnished?
No, but kitchen appliances, vinyl flooring and blinds are supplied.
What happens if I become ill and need temporary help?
We are sensitive to the changing needs of our residents. To meet these needs, we have aides who can provide additional assistance with such chores as cleaning, laundry or other services. All of this can be provided to our residents at a low cost due to generous support from the State of New Jersey. Meals can be made available through the same program.
Should I have to move into a nursing home or die, will my heirs be responsible for the unexpired portion of my lease?
No.
What about pets?
Yes, as long as you comply with our pet policy, which is available upon request.
Is smoking allowed?
No. B’nai B’rith is a non-smoking facility.
Is there parking available?
You will be assigned a parking space if one is available. If there is no space available, your name will be placed on a waitlist.
What about transportation?
JCHC provides transportation for shopping, community activities on a scheduled basis.
