On behalf of the Jewish Community Housing Corporation (JCHC), its staff and Board of Trustees, I hope this message finds you well and having an enjoyable holiday season so far, one filled with good health and much happiness. As you know, the JCHC is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1983, with the mission of providing seniors with affordable homes in nurturing and enriching communities here in Greater MetroWest NJ…
Thanks to the generous support from donors like you, the Jewish Community Housing Corporation of Metropolitan New Jersey (JCHC) has been meeting the dynamic needs of seniors in our community for over 40 years.
We would like to take a moment and share some of the things we have been up to recently.
iHeart Media recently partnered with the Jewish Community Housing Corporation (JCHC) to produce its first Public Service Announcement, highlighting the services JCHC provides to the community. The PSA ran for one month, on four of its featured radio and streaming stations: 106.7 Lite FM, 103.5 KTU, Q104.3, and 710 WOR
Who knew that 30 seconds could go so fast!? We have so much more to say and we are grateful to iHeart for giving us this platform to say it! Stay tuned, as we look forward to their involvement with the JCHC for years to come!
The JCHC recently held its inaugural “Mini-Mission”, where a group of special guests toured its two buildings in South Orange, The B’nai B’rith Residences and Village Apartments, visited with residents and capped off the afternoon with a tour and lunch at Lester Senior Living in Whippany.
We send our appreciation to Board Member, Robin Leitner, for working on this with us and look forward to the next one, which will be scheduled in the early months of 2024.
If you, or anyone you know, would like to be added to our notification list for future missions or to set-up individual or group tours, separate of joining a formal mission, please reach out to Amy Epstein, Director of Development, at AmyE@JCHCorp.org .
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Don’t forget to make your year-end, fully tax-deductible donation to the JCHC before the clock strikes midnight on December 31st!
This is our final push before the year ends and we would love your generous support in making a difference in our residents’ lives! Whether it be supporting our programs, or continuing to assist with our renovations, whatever you can give at year-end will go a very long way in our communities.
Both Jewish Federation Plaza and B’nai B’rith Residences hosted guest speakers during October for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Residents and staff enjoyed a healthy lunch, followed by entertainment, while wearing their best and brightest shades of pink!
We are pleased to report that the first phase of the Lester renovation project, with the focus being on the first and second floors of the Heller Independent Living Apartments and the Weston Assisted Living Residence, has successfully been completed. Some of the highlights of the completed work include:
We are now moving on to the second phase of the Lester renovation project, which will focus on improvements to the grounds around the building; reinventing our backyard to incorporate outdoor events with dining, raised gardening beds and a new layout and furniture for more and better outdoor activities and social gatherings.
Even after the back courtyard upgrades have been completed (hopefully by the end of this coming summer), there will still be much more work to be done at Lester Senior Housing. There is additional outdoor work that we have planned for the front of the building. After that, we plan to upgrade both the independent living apartments and the assisted living units, introducing new safety and other accessibility features in our apartments, such as walk-in showers, new kitchen appliances and additional lower shelving.
When we think of playing, our minds often drift to carefree childhood days filled with laughter and imagination. Where after meeting up with all the neighborhood kids at the “watering hole,” the biggest problem was deciding what game to play…
Growing older doesn’t have to be hard, in fact growing older can come with the best years of your life! There are small changes you can make now that could really benefit your health in the future. These healthy lifestyle habits will also ensure you…
We all can agree that music is good for the soul. But how good is it for those with dementia? As seniors face the challenges of memory loss and cognitive decline, music has proven to be a therapeutic tool that can evoke memories…
We are asking the Greater MetroWest Jewish Community to consider adding your support to these important initiatives. With our work together, resident families have greater peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are safe, happy, and living with high quality of life.
